Our Investigations Team
Kevin Johnson is accredited by A.C.T.A.R., the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction, testifies as an expert witness, and trains others in the accident reconstruction community. Kevin performs accident reconstructions specializing in new technologies in the industry. These include downloading, interpreting and analyzing data from Event Data Recorders - Electronic Control Modules (ECM) in commercial motor vehicles, Airbag Control Modules in passenger vehicles as well as the many other “black box”-type technologies in vehicles that supply data that relates to crash investigation.
In addition, he simulates collisions using state-of-the-art, three-dimensional, physics-based software. Kevin’s 10 years of law enforcement experience, which included over 500 collisions investigated on-scene, lends additional perspective to collision analysis and police investigations. When a crash occurs, Kevin and his team provide immediate response for documentation of collision scenes. He has been the principal investigator for over 4500 crashes and has supported fellow investigators on numerous other cases. As a private pilot, he is able to provide these services efficiently, economically, and with added value to clients. With a FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate, he can capture important scene evidence from a bird’s eye perspective.
Kevin Johnson Crash Consulting Services, LLC utilizes the latest technology to capture collision site evidence with a Sokkia Total Station, a Global Positioning Satellite Real Time Kinematic system for precision measurements, and a Faro 3D Scanner. This allows evidence to be presented via computer graphics as well as high-resolution 3D printing of roadways, vehicles, and roadside objects.
Kevin is an instructor in Lighting, Optics and Visibility for Accident Reconstruction as well as Forensic Photography. As an instructor and an investigator, he is able to apply these technical skills to a reconstruction, while also being able to explain concepts and theories to juries in a clear, concise message.
He is a licensed pilot and performs work nationwide and holds Private Investigator licenses where applicable. This includes: Illinois (115-002404), Indiana (PI21100049}, and Texas (A19419). Most states do not require a license due to national accreditation.
